Tasmania's longest guided zipline runs through the treetops of Hollybank Forest, just twenty minutes from Launceston, and this is your way onto it. Over a kilometre of cable, one stretch running 400 metres long, carries you fifty metres above the blue gum canopy and Piper's River below. Your day starts at reception, where guides fit your harness and run through a safety briefing before a short five minute walk to the first platform. From there you're zipping tree to tree, picking up speed on the longer runs and slowing down to take in the view whenever the guides call a stop. Along the way, local guides share the story of Hollybank Forest, from its blue gum plantations to the wildlife that calls it home. It's a genuinely family friendly outing too. Kids as young as three can join, flying tandem with an adult on a double harness, so the whole crew gets the same view from up top. Staying in Launceston for a few days? Pair the zipline with Hollybank's off road segway tour for a second look at the same forest from ground level, or swing by Bridestowe Lavender Farm on your way back into town.
