Commonly asked questions.

Your guide collects you from any Sydney hotel, private address or Sydney Airport and drops you back at the end of the day. Pickup time is flexible, and a start between 7 and 8am is recommended for the full loop.

The coast route covers Royal National Park, the Grand Pacific Drive and the beach villages of the northern Illawarra. The full loop carries on to Kiama, Berry, Kangaroo Valley, Fitzroy Falls and the Southern Highlands before heading back. For more ideas around the city, browse our Sydney tours and experiences.

Lunch, drinks and personal expenses aren't included, but national park entry fees are. Your guide will suggest a stop, usually Thirroul or Scarborough on the coast route and Berry on the full loop.

Cancellations made within 7 days of the tour attract a cancellation fee, and cancellations less than 48 hours before pickup are charged in full. Where possible, the team will help you reschedule instead.

The tour runs in most weather and your guide adjusts the route and timing to suit conditions. Warm jackets, raincoats and umbrellas are supplied when needed. Delays caused by weather or traffic aren't grounds for a cancellation or refund.

Yes, the private format suits families. Child seats and booster seats are available if you request them in advance when booking. Travelling with older kids? Our guide to Sydney with teens has more ideas for your stay.
Wild sightings are never guaranteed, but a stop at Symbio Wildlife Park can be added to the coast route for time with Australian animals. For the best places to spot them in the wild, read our guide on where to see kangaroos.

Groups of up to 15 can travel together on one private booking. Pricing is set by group size, with tiers for 1 to 5, 6 to 10 and 11 to 15 guests.

Most visitors to Sydney head west to the mountains. This private day points you south instead, along a coast where sandstone cliffs drop into surf beaches and the villages still run at a country pace. With your own guide and vehicle, the route bends to what you want to see rather than a coach timetable. Your guide collects you from your Sydney hotel, home or the airport, then heads straight for Royal National Park, the second oldest national park in the world. You wind through forest and heath to beaches like Wattamolla, where a lagoon sits right behind the sand. From Bald Hill Lookout at Stanwell Tops you get your first big sweep of the coastline, then the Grand Pacific Drive carries you across the Sea Cliff Bridge, curving out over the ocean below the escarpment. From there, the day takes one of two shapes:
  • The coast route: Royal National Park, the Grand Pacific Drive and the laid back beach villages of the northern Illawarra, with lunch in Thirroul or Scarborough, or fish and chips by the water. A stop at Symbio Wildlife Park can be added if you want time with Australian animals.
  • The full loop: the coast route continues past Wollongong to Kiama for the blowhole and lighthouse, then turns inland through dairy country to Berry for lunch. You drop into Kangaroo Valley, with its old bakeries and country pub, climb out to Fitzroy Falls in Morton National Park, where the water plunges 81 metres into the valley, and finish in a Southern Highlands village such as Bowral or at a cool climate winery.
Already ticked off the mountains on our Blue Mountains private tour? This is the day that shows you the other side of Sydney. If you would rather stay closer to the harbour, the private 6 hours Sydney tour covers the city in comfort. Explore both routes, then check availability for your dates.
