This is the Daintree day that goes the whole distance. You'll travel past Mossman Gorge and across the Daintree River all the way to Cape Tribulation, where the rainforest runs right down to the reef. With 6 to 16 guests in an air conditioned minibus, you're in a small group with a guide who can actually hear your questions. Pickups start at 7am in Cairns, 7:45am in Palm Cove and 8:30am in Port Douglas. The coast road north is half the fun, with a stop at Rex Lookout where the rainforest drops straight into the Coral Sea, then Flagstaff Hill above Four Mile Beach. At Mossman Gorge you'll take a guided walk among the granite boulders, with a chance to swim when the river and weather allow. Lunch follows at a restaurant, then it's onto the Daintree River for an hour long wildlife cruise, keeping a close eye out for crocodiles along the banks. Once you cross on the cable ferry, you're properly inside one of the oldest rainforests on Earth. Take in the view from Alexandra Lookout, join a guided botanical walk, then stand at Kulki Lookout at Cape Tribulation, where two World Heritage areas meet. On the way home there's a stop at the Daintree Ice Cream Company, with ice cream at your own cost. Want to know more before you go? Our local's guide to the Daintree and Cape Tribulation covers what to expect, and the River Drift Experience is a fun way to get into the Mossman River on another day.
