Commonly asked questions.
Your pickup time is confirmed with your booking and depends on the option you choose. Be at your pickup point at the advised time, allow a 15 minute window for the coach to arrive, and call the day before to reconfirm.
Rail up and Skyrail down is the classic loop, with the train's Barron Falls stop in the morning and the canopy on the way home. Skyrail up puts the gondola ride first, and the bus options keep one leg quick and simple. Choose a Gold Class option if you want a host, lounge seats and drinks on the train.
Skyrail runs in the rain with fully enclosed gondolas, and free umbrellas are handed out at Red Peak and Barron Falls. If extreme weather stops the train or Skyrail, alternatives are offered on the day, and if the tour is cancelled for weather you receive a full refund.
Changes and cancellations are free up to 24 hours before travel. Cancelling on the day, or missing your pickup, incurs a 25% fee.
Child fares cover ages 4 to 14, and under 4s travel free but need an infant booking so a seat is held. Folding prams can ride in the Skyrail gondola with you, but luggage space on the train is very limited, so a compact stroller works best. Skyrail asks every guest to be fit to travel and to check with a doctor if unsure, which is worth doing if you are pregnant.
A wheelchair friendly coach can be arranged on request, the railway uses a hydraulic lift at Freshwater and Kuranda stations, and Skyrail fits most standard wheelchairs. Mention your needs when booking, as space for mobility devices on the train must be reserved.
