Check in at the Great Adventures counter inside the Reef Fleet Terminal, 1 Spence Street, Cairns, at least 30 minutes before your 8:30am or 10:30am departure. Arriving closer to an hour early gives you time to collect your boarding pass without a rush. Return boats leave Green Island at 2:30pm or 4:30pm, and the crossing takes about 45 minutes each way.

Parking is available outside or undercover at the Pier, with more nearby at the Reef Casino and Cairns Hilton. Return coach transfers to the terminal are also available from most Cairns and Northern Beaches properties.

Cancel before 12 noon on the day before travel and there's no fee. Cancelling between 12 noon and 6pm the day before incurs a 50% fee, and after 6pm the day before the full fare is charged. Refunds go back to your original payment method.

Great Adventures checks Bureau of Meteorology forecasts daily. If a cruise doesn't operate, you'll be offered another day of travel or a refund, and in severe weather you can change dates without penalty, subject to availability.

Yes, the trip suits all ages including infants. Child fares cover ages 4 to 14, under 4s travel free, and a family fare covers two adults and two children. Children need to be with a responsible adult at all times, and smaller buoyancy vests are available.

Absolutely. You can stay dry on a glass bottom boat, stroll the rainforest boardwalks or relax on the beach, and buoyancy vests are available if you'd like to try snorkelling. Our guide to the Great Barrier Reef for non swimmers has more ideas.
Jellyfish can be present at certain times of year, generally November to April. A lycra stinger suit reduces the chance of marine stings and doubles as sun protection. Read our Cairns stinger season guide before you go.

Wheelchair facilities are available, though there are some restrictions and some mobility may be needed. Green Island has accessible toilets and boardwalks, so contact Great Adventures before booking to talk through your needs.

Pack swimwear, a towel, comfortable walking shoes, a hat, marine friendly sunscreen, a camera and some spending money. Drones aren't allowed, cold drinking water is freely available, and lockers can be hired on the island. Our reef safe sunscreen guide helps you pick the right one.
Snorkel straight off the beach, wander the rainforest on the self guided eco walk, cruise over the coral on a glass bottom boat or just claim a patch of sand. Optional extras include Seawalker helmet diving, parasailing, scenic helicopter flights and Marineland Melanesia. See more Green Island and Fitzroy Island tours.
