Cradle Mountain changes shift after sunset. The day walkers head home, and the wombats and other locals come out for their evening feed. This 90 minute guided night spotting tour takes you out to meet them, with a guide who knows exactly where to shine the torch. You are collected from your Cradle Mountain accommodation in a four wheel drive coach and driven to Ronny Creek. From there, with hand held torches and spotlights, you stroll the boardwalks of the Cradle Valley Walk and sections of the Overland Track towards Mount Kate Hut, scanning for movement while your guide shares stories about the park. The spotting carries on from the coach as you pass Waldheim Chalet, detouring along the road and into the forest for one last look before you are dropped back at your door. Start times move with the seasons, from early evening in winter to later in summer, so you are always out at dusk. Spending a few days in the park? Our Cradle Mountain guide covers the best walks by day. Explore the tour, then check availability.
